Tests of dissolved oxygen concentration and water temperature.

Following is an overview of the first results of dissolved oxygen concentrations and temperature levels that the APLG measured at Lac Gagnon in August and September 2012, 2016 and 2021.

A 2 mg/l minimum concentration of dissolved oxygen is required for the survival of fish and a minimum concentration of 5 mg/l is required for the normal development of most fish. Fish such as pike and catfish can live with lower rates but trout requires good oxygen levels of at least 5 mg/l.  As for temperature, trout prefer 10 to 12 º C.
