Following is an overview of the first results
of dissolved oxygen concentrations and temperature
levels that the APLG measured at Lac Gagnon in
August and September 2012, 2016 and 2021.
A 2 mg/l minimum concentration of dissolved oxygen
is required for the survival of fish and a minimum
concentration of 5 mg/l is required for the normal
development of most fish. Fish such as pike and
catfish can live with lower rates but trout
requires good oxygen levels of at least 5
mg/l. As for temperature, trout prefer 10 to
12 º C.
