2025 Municipal Elections

Hello,

What a beautiful fall we are having at Lac Gagnon! We hope you are able to enjoy it!

As you may know, municipal elections will be held on November 2. The municipality of Duhamel is one of the APLG’s important partners in protecting our lake. That is why we would like to keep you informed about the elections. In Duhamel, Mayor David Pharand will be re-elected by acclamation. This is also the case for two municipal councillors, Denise Corneau and Michel Longtin from the village. Two new candidates are also elected by acclamation, Gilbert Brosseau from Lac Doré and Sylvie Moreau from Lac Gagnon.

Two candidates are running for seat number 1. Sophie Legault from Lac Gagnon is running against the incumbent, Marie-Céline Hébert from the village. There are three candidates running for seat number 6, all from Lac Gagnon, Brigitte Mironchuck, François Dulong, and Gilles Payer, the incumbent.

Since several candidates are Lac Gagnon residents, we thought we would offer all candidates in the election the opportunity to write a short text so that you can get to know them better. You can learn more about them starting next Saturday on our website’s home page under APLG News.

Nominations and any news about the elections are also available on the municipality’s website.

Sylvie Moreau has organized a meeting on Saturday, October 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the municipal park located between the church and the town hall, where you can meet the candidates.

There is something new this year in our MRC. Going forward, the population will elect the prefect, who was previously appointed by all the mayors of the MRC. The two candidates are Pierre Bernier from Duhamel and Paul-André David from Papineauville. You can vote for the candidate of your choice on November 2.

Here are the important dates to remember:

  • Electoral list review committee: Friday, October 10, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., as well as Tuesday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Duhamel town hall at 1890 Principale Street.
  • Advance voting: Sunday, October 26, from noon to 8 p.m.
  • Election day: November 2 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Please note that due to the Canada Post strike, it will likely be more complicated to vote by mail. We will keep you informed of the procedures to follow when we know more about this.

We’ll be sending out the next Remous in November. Have a great fall!
