Hello,
Several of you have informed us that it was possible to open the gate at the public boat launch on Lac Gagnon without having the code. This situation was jeopardizing the health of our lake. The municipality was notified and rectified the situation on Thursday, July 24.
You now need the access code to activate the gate, to both enter and exit. This code changes every week and should not be shared with anyone else.
We remind you that you can obtain the code when you have your boat inspected by Tony Dumais and Camille Desmarais at 1857 Route 321 (438-502-6419). This inspection is free for Lac Gagnon property owners. If you visit another body of water during the summer, it is essential that your boat be inspected and washed. All fishing and recreational equipment that has been in contact with any water other than in Lac Gagnon must be cleaned.
The washing station, which is also free, is located behind City Hall at 1890 Principale Street. Good news! A second washing station will be available at the start of the 2026 season at the Lac Gagnon public boat launch.
If you do not have the code and wish to take your boat out of the water, please use one of the three phone numbers posted at the public boat launch.
This change is excellent news, as it helps limit access to the lake to individuals who do not comply with regulations and who could introduce invasive species.
P.S.: The municipality is aware that the boat launch needs renovations to improve getting boats in and out of the water. We were told that this should be done in the near future.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
